U.S. passport valid for at least 6 months and with one blank page. U.S. citizens need a MULTIPLE-entry tourist visa: US$100, valid for 12 months; apply on the official portal visa.immigration.go.tz (processing up to 10 days) or on arrival. The same visa covers Zanzibar. Since October 1, 2026, government travel insurance of US$44 per person is mandatory (medical coverage of up to 92 days; purchased once depending on the point of entry, online or on arrival). Yellow fever certificate if arriving from (or with a layover of more than 12 h in) a country at risk.
