Spring Break 2026 Travel Ideas
Spring Break 2026 Reimagined: Smarter Travel Starts Now

Mexico for Elevated Classics
Mexico is a Spring Break classic, but there’s more than Cancún. For 2026, we’re seeing increased demand for upscale all-inclusive and quieter luxury options. Resorts in Cabo and Riviera Maya are leaning into wellness, design, and creative culinary offerings, attracting groups of friends and families who want fun in the sun without the college crowd chaos.
Just Opened:
Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol opened in December within the exclusive Cabo del Sol community along Baja California Sur’s coastline. You’ll love being close to downtown Cabo San Lucas while still feeling private and secluded.
Upscale All-Inclusive:
Grand Velas Riviera Maya is my pick for families: luxe dining options, spacious oceanfront suites, world-class wellness, kids’ and teens’ clubs, and plenty of activities.

Caribbean for Boutique Stays
Across the Caribbean, demand is growing for design-forward hotels that feel more like boutique hideaways than mega-resorts. Several islands have welcomed new oceanfront properties or recently refreshed hotels.
Just Opened:
Chic and intimate, Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa in South Caicos, Turks & Caicos, celebrated its grand opening in March. Choose this for a disconnected escape surrounded by beautiful ocean views and understated luxury.
Reopening:
Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, Jamaica is back. Much of the island’s tourism infrastructure was built to recover quickly, allowing many beloved hotels to reopen in time for Spring Break — the perfect opportunity to support the community while still enjoying your vacation. Plus, travelers will find fewer crowds and greater flexibility. One favorite is Eclipse at Half Moon.

Europe for Families
Spring Break city travel is trending as more travelers realize shoulder season is the sweet spot for European travel. Expect fewer crowds and better hotel value than summer.
Cities like London, Paris, and Rome make three- to five-night European escapes realistic for families, especially those with kids eager to see history, art, and culture they’re studying in school come to life. For France lovers, keep in mind that Paris Fashion Week runs March 2–10 this year, so the city will be busier.
- In London, The Athenaeum Hotel & Residences offers apartment-style suites overlooking Green Park, perfect for families visiting the British Museum and Tower of London.
- Le Bristol Paris delivers classic luxury with an interior courtyard, indoor pool, and exceptional concierge service for excursions to the Louvre, Orsay, and Versailles.
- In Rome, Hotel de Russie, a Rocco Forte hotel, is centrally located with an internal garden — ideal for recharging between visits to the Colosseum, Forum, and Vatican.

The American West for Skiing
Spring Break ski trips focus on mountains with reliable snow, lively yet family-friendly base villages, and plenty of non-ski activities for mixed-ability groups. Late-season conditions favor high-altitude or western resorts that typically hold snow well into April. And with the Winter Olympics crowding the Alps, we’re skipping European resorts this year.
- Breckenridge: Great spring skiing, historic downtown, and plenty of ski-in/ski-out condo hotels like Gravity Haus.
- Beaver Creek: Polished service with slope-side stays like Park Hyatt Beaver Creek and Beaver Creek Lodge, plus daily village activities for kids.
- Park City: Charming historic town with easy access from Salt Lake City. Stay at Goldener Hirsch or opt for a more budget-friendly choice like Marriott’s Summit Watch.

Coastal Style & Wine Country
Within the U.S., domestic resort-style travel continues to grow. Think desert spas, coastal design hotels, walkable neighborhoods, and yes — a few classic party escapes.
Just Opened:
I’ve heard great feedback on new Florida openings like Andaz Miami Beach and Naples Beach Club, a Four Seasons Resort.
Ranch Vibes:
Alisal Ranch spans 10,500 acres in Santa Barbara’s wine country. With over 50 miles of horseback riding trails, two championship 18-hole golf courses, a spa and fitness center, and more, it’s ideal for groups that value pools, dining, golf, or hiking over nightlife.
